Our History

A Club Built on Tradition & Community

Breakers Country Club has its roots in the former Terrigal Memorial Country Club, established by members of the Terrigal-Wamberal RSL community. A meeting held on 28 November 1968 at the old CWA Hall in Terrigal led to the formation of the club, with the aim of creating a sporting and social facility for the local community.

In the early 1970s, volunteers from the RSL Sub-Branch constructed the first three holes on the original nine-acre site. Within six months the holes were completed, and in 1972 members played the three holes three times to create a nine-hole competition. The course quickly attracted interest across the Central Coast, and the club was granted a liquor licence on 29 September 1973.

In 1974, an additional 15 acres of land were purchased, bringing the club's holdings to approximately 50 acres. The facility expanded to include a golf course, bowling greens, tennis courts, and clubhouse facilities. In 2008, the club adopted the trading name Breakers Country Club while retaining its strong connection to the RSL and local community. A memorial wall and plaque at the entrance continue to honour the service and sacrifice of Australian veterans.

Today, Breakers Golf Club is a picturesque 9-hole, par-33 course located at Wamberal on the NSW Central Coast, featuring tree-lined fairways and several water hazards, supporting active men's, ladies', mixed and social golf competitions throughout the week.
